Music I've Been Loving Lately

I, like most people, have certain bands that I will always love and appreciate their music. I will do a post about my all time favourite music, but for now I wanted to open your eyes to some music I've been loving recently. This is music that I've been obsessively and repeatedly listening to over the past two weeks.

For anyone who actually knows me, they'll know I am utterly in love with anything Rob Zombie makes (whether it be music or movies). Sadly, I have never gotten the chance to see him live so when he came out with his Concert DVD in 2014 I was beyond excited. He recently released a CD to accompany that DVD called Spookshow International. I immediately became obsessed with it, and for the past two weeks I have had it on repeat almost constantly. All of the songs are great due to Zombie being such a great performer, but if I had to choose two favourites from the entire album I would choose 'More Human than Human' and 'Thunder Kiss '65' (which happens to be one of my favourite Zombie songs in general). Rob Zombie's energy on this album is completely infectious, and I definitely encourage anyone who is a fan of live albums to check this out. You can listen to the full album here.

I've been a fan of Slipknot for awhile, and for the past year I found myself not listening to them as often. I was a little late on listening to their most recent album (as in me hearing it for the first time last week) and I fell in love with the song "AOV". It is definitely my favourite song from the album, and I cannot get it enough of it. It's what you hear in your head when you think of a song from Slipknot, hands down. Listen to it here, and be warned it's amazing.

This song has been pure addiction lately. I can't stop listening to it, mostly because it's a good 'headphone' song for my commutes to work and back. Everyone and their mothers have heard this song but it's such a classic. Listen to this here (although I'm sure you've heard it before).

Last summer I re-discovered System of a Down and realized I still love their music. They're loud, crazy and a little strange which is something I look for in a band. After recently hearing about them going on tour (and basically crying that I couldn't afford tickets), I've been listening to their music non-stop again. Let's just say, they are perfect wake up music for the morning. Listen to one of my favourite songs by them–'Aerials'–here.

For people who don't know the greatness that is Volbeat, you need to check them out right now. They are a Danish rock band, with a rockabilly feel to their music. The second I heard 'Lola Montez' I was hooked. They've been a constant favourite of mine since last summer, but I'll go through phases with specific songs. Lately, my favourite has been 'A Moment Forever', because it's upbeat and loud which are the things that attract me to songs. I encourage you to listen to everything from Volbeat, but check out 'A Moment Forever' here.

Last but not least, I had to include at least some classic rock (because half the time that's what I'm listening to). Over the past year or so I have been slowly becoming a huge fan of all of Led Zeppelin's songs (especially 'Babe I'm Gonna Leave You'). The one song that has been on repeat like crazy lately has been 'Who Lotta Love'. Anyone who is a Zeppelin fan knows and loves this song, so it's natural for me to be obsessed. This again is a great song to listen to with headphones because, honestly, that guitar riff is splendid and Robert Plant's voice is wondrous. Everyone and anyone needs to experience this song at least once, so listen to it here.
